Jakey-unconditional love

I'm amazed at how loving and sensitive little kids can be. Aline and I had to drive to Los Angeles to take care of some Brazilian passport stuff for her and the kids so we were gone for two days (that's a whole other post in and of itself but I digress). The point is we were away from the kids for a couple days. We got home very late last night and didn't see them much before we had to go to work.

Then today was a very stressful day at work. I got home totally overwhelmed and just wanted to go to bed and forget that today ever happened. But waiting for me as soon as he heard the garage door was Jakey.

He was very excited to see me and ran to me before I had even got inside and said, "I love you daddy, I'm glad you're here!"

That totally melted my heart. It completely turned my day around. He is such a loving boy and reminded me how a family is (and should always be) the place you feel loved and appreciated no matter what else has gone on that day (week or year).

Also, my buddy reminded me today how we all should stay close to the spirit and not be afraid to reach out to those around us in love and express gratitude when we are prompted to. We never know when someone we meet will urgently need a friend to say "I'm glad you're here, Daddy". I sure needed that today.

Jakey's not stupid

Lol it's amazing what Jakey learns. He wanted to play with my phone just now but I was finishing a message for work so I said "look Jakey theres your doggy, why don't you play with your doggy" so he goes and picks it up and gives it a hug and says "oh! Doggy!" Then he brings it to me says "daddy doggy". So naturally I thought he wanted me to give it a hug. WRONG! He wanted to trade for the phone!!! He hugged it merely to show me it was something worth trading. Such a smart little rascal! I distracted him with something else and instead of playing with it he got it to trade me for what he wanted. LOL. He's not stupid!!!!

Jacob's Boots

So I finally went and got Jacob's long lost boot this week from my photographer friend who found it outside his studio (the day we took Jakey's 1 year pictures). The boots fit him perfectly now. He put them on for the first time the day Em was here crafting with Aline. She was about to leave and it was getting a little dark so the moon could be seen. We put Jakey's boots on him so he could go say goodbye. When we got outside , he saw the moon and kept saying "night night moon" (because we've been reading him that "Goodnight Moon" book). It was the cutest thing. He was super excited by the moon. He cried when we came inside.

Even cuter, though, was the next day during the middle of the day when we again put his boots on him. He kept saying "Outside. Moon." He thought because we put his boots on, it was time to go see the moon! (Even though it was the middle of the day and the moon of course couldn't be seen). Amazing how he remembers things. =o)

Happy Birthday

Texas size birthday donut I got from my coworkers.

Intro

Aline and I have been wanting to keep a journal about all of the cute things Jacob does every day. This is how we decided to do that. We also thought it would be fun to invite everyone in the family to add things that are going on with them and comment on things we post here. Happy blogging!
